Making an Appointment

For our office location and phone/fax number, please visit our Contact Us page. The following is some general information about making appointments with Dr. Olson:

  • Appointments can be in-person or virtual
  • All new consults are 1.5 hours. A 2 hour, or longer new patient appointment is recommended for new patients seeking age management consultations. Half of the fee of that first visit will be requested when you make the appointment, to confirm your commitment to attending the visit.
  • Return visits are usually 30,45 or 60 minutes depending on the problem(s).
  • A follow up appointment after initial visit is needed to discuss labs and finding, unless you wanted a one time consultation.
  • Payment for your care is expected at the time of the visit.
  • We accept all major credit cards and Health Savings Account (HSA) payments. We cannot accept personal checks. To protect you, we require verification of your personal identity for all encounters.
  • After your visit we will provide you with a copy of your medical expense bill so you may submit it to your insurance company, and get whatever reimbursement you are entitled to, depending on your insurance contract and your deductible. We can no longer do this service for you.
  • Medicare does not cover visits to my practice, as I am not a participating provider. Commercial Insurances and Medicare do not cover tests or treatments that “prevent” diseases or manage healthy aging.

What We Need For Your Appointment

  • Please print and complete the following forms, then fax and or mail to our office:
  • A copy of your recent labs, hormone tests, and copies of thyroid, pituitary or adrenal imaging studies, as well as bone mineral density, if available.
  • If you have concerns about a possible hypothyroid condition, please gather and bring old thyroid tests from your primary care doctor or gynecologist.
  • For a thyroid cancer evaluation or opinion: Bring a copy of surgery report by the surgeon, pathology findings as reported at the hospital you had your surgery, and of radioactive iodine treatments received at the nuclear medicine division of the hospital, so that the visit is most effective. Also bring your latest TSH and thyroglobulin results. I must tell you that if your problem is just thyroid cancer, money is an issue, and you are not seeking anything other than a good diagnosis and treatment, then I strongly recommend my dear colleagues at Yale or U Conn, who are excellent and trustworthy, with the management of your thyroid cancer.
  • Please bring a photo of yourself from 5 years ago. Please also bring a photo of your family of origin (mother & father).

Please bring or forward all these records along with the two completed forms (above) to your first appointment.

Virtual Consultations and Second Opinions

  • You may now request virtual consultations on your endocrine health issue. I need your medical records at the time of our consultation to give you my best advice. As a established patient I will work with you and your doctors to provide the best care for you.
  • For second opinion consultation, I can only make recommendations for you and your doctor. I cannot prescribe medicines or order tests for you.
  • This is solely a confidential conversation between you and me and the encounter is not to be used as medical evidence by any third party.

We look forward to serving you!
